With all the extreme cold we’ve been having recently, a lot of guys might wonder what they should be doing for fun. This is an especially relevant question for those whose idea of fun leads them outdoors. As much as a guy might enjoy his hunting or fishing or hiking or whatever his thing is, it’s really a lot less fun to be doing these things when it’s around zero degrees outside. Not to mention, unless you live close enough to your fun activities that you can walk to them, the ice on the road is going to slow you down at best, and at worst, your car will be manhandled by the icy roads. But fortunately we have a lover of the winter and extreme cold on location in the frozen forests of Hayward, Wisconsin to give us some ideas of how to have fun when it’s really cold outside.
This video was filmed on a day in which it was 17 below zero in Hayward. Our host has a wooden door over a frozen lake that allows him to access the water below. He enjoys opening that wooden cover and jumping on in. His advice is to wear shoes or sandals if you ever try such a thing, because your feet could freeze to the snow when you get out (not fun). He’s also fascinated by the ways in which water behaves in extreme cold. Check out this cold weather maniac in the video below. He probably should have been born as a polar bear or penguin.
