Equus is a relatively new automobile manufacturer based out of Rochester Hills, Michigan. They only have one model for 2014, the Bass770, a muscle car modeled after the American muscle cars of the 1960s and ’70s, but with significant technological upgrades. Equus has been working on this car for the past six years. The supercharged 6.2 liter V8 engine produces 640 horsepower. The car has a top speed of 200 miles per hour, and it can go from 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds. The price tag? Well, base models of this car start at $250,000, but as you’re about to see, it’s the car’s styling that’s most controversial.
Many have commented that this car looks like a complete ripoff of the Ford Mustang, particularly the custom Mustang models of the late-1960s. In truth, Equus has probably gotten as close to copying the look of the Mustang without infringing on any design patents, but that doesn’t mean that Mustang fans are going to like Equus’ new car. The Bass770 doesn’t just take after the Mustang though; there are design elements present from Camaros, Challengers, Chargers, Barracudas, GTOs, and Marlins as well. Combining the car’s design with a marketing pitch that is obviously geared towards millionaires has the potential to alienate muscle car purists, but even so, the car turned out pretty fantastic. A 200 mile-per-hour top speed is rather aggressive for a luxury car, wouldn’t you think? Checkout the new Bass770 in the video below and let us know what you think. Enjoy and ‘Share’.
