Is a beauty pageant champion really training to become an MMA fighter? That seems like a weird question, and I suppose that most people would find the concept ridiculous. After all, don’t most MMA fighters get their faces banged up? And don’t a lot of them end up with cauliflower ear? Why would a gorgeous woman do that to herself? Whitney Miller won Miss United States in 2012. That pageant is considered to be the oldest beauty pageant in the U.S. She’s also a former professional wakeboarder. She seems like the kind of girl who likes to try new activities other than just looking pretty, and when she does, she goes at them with everything she’s got. In this way, she’s kind of like Italian model Roberta Mancino who is not only a professional fashion model but also one of the best wingsuit flyers in the world. In Whitney’s case, she became interested in MMA after winning Miss United States and is now working towards her black belt in Jiu Jitsu.
Did I mention that Ms. Miller also won the first season of the reality TV show MasterChef? Yep, she’s that kind of girl. Pretty, athletic, a great cook, and she’d kick most other girls’ butts (and probably a few guys too). In this video, Whitney explains what attracted her to MMA and Jiu Jitsu in the first place and what she hopes to accomplish with it in the future. There’s also a good look at her MMA training, and of course, some footage of her choking out other girls. Watch it below. If you like it, ‘Share’ it.
