Restaurants are getting awfully creative with their burgers these days. No longer is a burger simply served with your choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion; it’s now common to see a burger served smothered in guacamole or with a fried egg on top. Many places even offer burgers that have replaced the buns with grilled cheese sandwiches or glazed donuts. (Related: this cheeseburger has great buns). Along these lines, the restaurant PYT in Philadelphia has created a burger that features two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as its buns. Intrigued? Read on.
PYT bills itself as the “Home of America’s Craaaziest Burgers.” Their menu includes burgers situated between buns of deep fried Twinkies and milkshakes doused in rum and vodka. The PB&J Burger is available for a limited time, designed to obliterate customers’ goals of losing weight in the new year. The PYT web site describes the PB&J Burger as “Deep fried kettle chip coated PB&J sandwiches are buns, banana-sriacha marinated juicy beef patty, applewood bacon on top. This is the over-the-top burger delight that will get 2014 started right!” So what do you think? Would you eat this insane burger, or are you more of a burger traditionalist? I for one will probably give PYT a try the next time I’m in Philly. I’ve got to see if the claim of housing America’s Craaaziest (with three a’s) Burgers holds true.
